Therapy from where
you already are.
Secure online counseling for adults across Michigan, with Lizanne Chisholm, LPC, NCC. Trauma-informed, holistic care delivered with the same depth as in-person work — without the drive.

The advantages, plainly stated.
Same depth, lower friction
Telehealth offers the same clinical quality as in-person work for most therapeutic concerns. The literature is clear, and so is what I see in session.
Reaches where care is scarce
Trauma-informed clinicians are unevenly distributed across Michigan. Telehealth lets clients in northern, rural, or underserved counties access specialty care.
Privacy by design
Sessions are conducted on a HIPAA-secure video platform with end-to-end encryption. No session recordings are kept.
Works on what you have
A laptop, tablet, or phone with reliable internet is enough. No software to install — sessions open in a browser link sent before each appointment.
Where telehealth works well — and where it does not.
Often a strong fit
- Trauma-informed therapy and grief counseling.
- Anxiety, overwhelm, and patterns of sustained stress.
- Life transitions — career, relationship, identity, midlife.
- Heart-based reflective work and Zen Coaching integration.
Better elsewhere
- Active suicidality, severe substance use, or other situations needing higher-acuity care.
- Clients who specifically want embodied in-person work as a primary modality.
- Court-ordered evaluations or custody assessments.
In any of these cases, I am glad to suggest a Michigan clinician whose work is a closer match.
From first message to first session.

Reach out.
Send a short message describing what you are navigating. A reply usually comes within one business day, with availability for a first session.
- 02
Schedule and pay the deposit.
First sessions are confirmed once the secure intake is completed and the session deposit is paid online.
- 03
Find your space.
On the day of the session, find a private, well-lit room. Headphones help. Have water and tissues nearby. The video link arrives by email an hour before.
- 04
We meet for 50 minutes.
The first session is more conversation than evaluation — context, fit, and how the work might unfold from here. No commitment to ongoing sessions afterward unless it feels right.
Telehealth FAQ.
- Is telehealth therapy effective for trauma?
- For most trauma work, yes. Research consistently shows comparable outcomes between in-person and telehealth therapy when delivered by trained clinicians. For some clients, the safety of staying in their own environment actually deepens the work.
- What if my internet drops mid-session?
- We continue by phone if needed. The clinical work matters more than the medium. I'll always have a backup number to reach you.
- Do I need a perfectly quiet space?
- A reasonably private space is enough. If you live with others, headphones and a closed door usually suffice. For many clients, the family minivan in a quiet parking lot has worked beautifully.
- Can I switch between telehealth and in-person sessions?
- Yes. Many clients do. In-person sessions in Lake Orion are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
